The Czechoslovak Federal Government has recognized Ukraiina as an indepenedent state. The Government has proclaimed that it took the results of referendum into consideration and that it hoped that Ukraiina would take the responsibility for part of political and economical commitments of the U.S.S.R. Michail Gorbacov was supposed to come to Czechoslovakia before Christmas to sign the agreement between U.S.S.R. and C.S.F.R. The visit has been cancelled because of new situation in the U.S.S.R. "I'm a left winder", said Karel Kryl Karel Kryl was and today still is the symbol of the resistance against the communist government. A protest singer and one of the personalities in Prague's Spring in 1968, emigrated to West Germany soon after invasion of the Warsaw's Pact army . Nevertheless he did not stop criticising the communist government when he worked as a journalist at the "Free Europe" radio station. He wrote critical texts after November 1986 as well. Being a rebel and a critic of every regime,he came to the meeting with the students of the Charles University faculty of social sciences on December,10- the Day of Human rights. His provoking and ironical speech suprised the audience but did not hinder discussion. The singer expressed very strong opinions on President Havel whose policy of compromises reduces his indisputable merits from his disident's period according to Kryl. Also, an economic reform became the target of his sarcasm . He criticised the lack of an operatin income-tax office and the general control of finances. The artists of the 70's /the time of communist normalization/ were denounced quickly as well. A part of the audience was dissappointed by its one-time idol. His most provocative saying was chosen as a title for this articel. It seems that Karel Kryl did not change so much - finally he admitted that the government took some positive steps too. Karel Kryl started coming to Czechoslovakia more and more frequently.
